Wales & Monmouthshire

Postal Competition

It’s that time of year again when I enquire what clubs are interested in shooting in this postal competition.

The WSRA Wales & Monmouthshire postal league is open to all clubs. There is no requirement for participants to be members of either the NSRA or WSRA although all Welsh Clubs are affiliated to the WSRA and can send a representative to Committee meetings to be able to be involved in the running of the sport in Wales. This lack of need for such membership gives all shooting athletes a chance to take part in a National competition.

The league has been in existence since 1909 and was originally run by the NSRA but as numbers declined, they relinquished its organisation and the trophies to be run locally.

The league will hopefully run with more than one division but this is dependant on the number of teams entering (ideally teams of 5). If clubs wish to enter two teams but cannot raise 10 shooters then consideration will be given to reducing the team composition to four in order to encourage and assist clubs and participants of all standards to take part.

This League is part of Welsh small-bore shooting history and it would be a shame to lose it after over a century of existence due to lack of interest.

We appreciate that many clubs enter a variety of leagues from across the UK but by taking part, not only will you be keeping Welsh shooting alive but you will be giving your members exposure to a wider range of activities within the Principality and help ‘grow’ both them and your club.

Full details of the competition will be sent to those who express an interest. For more information please contact Steve by clicking this link.
